SKIN CARE

For the management of healthy skin

MelaniX™ is a daily nicotinamide supplement designed to support skin health.

In Australia, nonmelanoma skin cancers are four times as common as all other cancers combined. Nonmelanoma skin cancers (NMSC), mainly basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas are the most prevalent cancers in the white population due to exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. The increasing incidence of nonmelanoma skin cancer worldwide highlights the need for additional preventive measures. There is growing evidence that oral nicotinamide and carotenoids can protect the skin from the detrimental effects such as erythema and skin damage caused by solar UV radiation. Zinc has also been identified for various physiological functions, including wound healing, survival and anti-inflammatory effects.

Repair damaged DNA

Poly-ADP-ribose polymerase-1 (PARP-1) is an enzyme that detects DNA damage and initiates DNA repair. For PARP-1 to exert its effect, it requires NAD+ as its sole substrate. Nicotinamide, which is a precursor of NAD+ prevents damaged DNA replication and the initiation of DNA repair to protect cellular integrity and improve skin health.

Support healthy skin & wound healing

Nicotinamide has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, barrier repair and protective effects. Its ability to prevent depletion of cellular energy, repair DNA, inhibit integration of proviral DNA and suppress production of inflammatory factors results in reduction in cases of non melanoma skin cancers, actinic keratosis, symptoms of eczema, acne, psoriasis and other skin conditions. Zinc is a naturally occurring mineral and is present in a number of zinc-dependent metallo-enzymes in the skin, that’s involved in wound repair. It has also been shown to be effective in improving the rate of wound healing, skin repair, maintenance, defense and treating inflammatory skin conditions.

Prevent incidence of UV-induced skin conditions

b- carotene that is found in tomato extracts has strong antioxidant properties that contribute to its photoprotective effects of solar radiation-induced health damage from UVA and B radiation. It does so by inhibiting UVA1 expression of the radiation inducible genes Hoq, ICAM1, and MMP1. As a precursor of NAD+, nicotinamide is able to prevent UV-induced depletion of ATP in skin cells, accelerating energy-dependent DNA repair processes. It’s ability to suppress immunosuppression caused by UV radiation and preventing oxidative stress caused from UV rays protect the skin from nonmelanoma skin cancer.
